2019 CITY COUNCIL ELECTION

The City of Poplar Bluff, Missouri wishes to inform its citizens that it will have two (2) ballots on the General Election to be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 for the purpose of electing two (2) City Councilpersons.

 

One (1) City Councilperson will be elected from Ward One (1) for a three-year term and one (1) City Councilperson will be elected from Ward Three (3) for a three-year term.

 

The first day for candidate filing will be Tuesday, December 11, 2018 and the last day for candidate filing will be Tuesday, January 15, 2019.

 

Candidates for City Council must be 21 years of age; a citizen of the United States; a qualified voter; an inhabitant of the City for one (1) year; an inhabitant of the Ward for which he or she seeks office for one (1) year and if elected continue to be domiciled in that Ward throughout his or her term on the City Council.  No one who is in arrears for any tax lien, forfeiture or defalcation in office can be elected.

 

Persons wishing to file for the office of City Councilperson may do so at the Office of the City Clerk, 501 Vine Street, Poplar Bluff, Missouri between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on the last day of filing, January 15, 2019.

 

Persons wishing additional information with regards to filing for the office of City Council may call the Office of the City Clerk at 686-8620 during regular business hours.
